Last week, Ed Rock, logistics manager (read office manager) for the Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council for more than 12 years, was presented in his hospital room with a Certificate of Appreciation from CD-7 Council member Felipe Fuentes. Rock suffered a stroke after having moved the STNC office into the chamber of commerce’s area in December and has not been able to return to work.
Council member Fuentes, upon hearing that the officers and members of the S-T neighborhood council had not so much as sent a get-well card to Rock, took it upon himself to honor Ed Rock for his more than 12 years of service to the community. Rock was the first city employee to be hired by Wendy Greuel to run a neighborhood council office in what was then Council District 2.
“He kept the council in compliance, unlike councils in other districts” said David Cain, past vice-president.
Besides his duties as public information officer for the community archives, Rock also set up the meeting room, picked up the supplies and cleaned up after the meetings — on his own time.
