Amber Heard to Donate Her $ 7 Million Divorce Settlement to Charity

The average age of couples going through the divorce process is 30 years old, but while Amber Heard is 30, nothing about her divorce from Johnny Depp is average.

In an act of complete selflessness, Amber Heard has recently announced that she is donating her divorce settlement to charity. The actress, who has had a widely publicized divorce with estranged husband Johnny Depp, 53, hopes that this donation will be able to help victims like herself.

Heard filed for divorce from Depp about three months ago, citing extreme domestic violence and emotional trauma. This widely popularized divorce and domestic violence claim has caused a jolt to run throughout Hollywood, as Depp has never been the face of such a scandal until now.

The actors were only married for 15 months. Just earlier this month a video of Depp, believed to have been leaked by Heard, showed his violent tendencies towards her. This video is just the latest scandal from the divorce, as the pair has been fighting conflicting allegations of substance abuse and financial blackmailing, on top of the domestic violence accusations.

Heard and Depp settled their divorce privately the day before a court appearance meant to go over the restraining order Heard applied for against her estranged husband.

In a statement, Heard explained that she will divide her divorce settlement — a whopping $7 million — equally between the American Civil Liberties Union, which combats violence against women and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

The Huffington Post reports Heard’s statement,“As described in the restraining order and divorce settlement, money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to defend themselves.”

Depp has yet to release a comment in response.
