Why, Mi Casita Mexican Restaurant, of course. Owned by Jose, Miguel and Laura Delgado, they purchased this restaurant at 8069 Foothill Blvd., Sunland-Tujunga 13 years ago. When they opened the doors, they had so many orders that Jose was completely overwhelmed, admitting he had to go into the zone to get through those first weeks. He was animated as he told me and his excitement has not dimmed at all. This man loves to cook and loves everything else that goes along with the business.

The owners manage their family in the restaurant and at home. The kids sometimes come to help and even his parents come in to prep the food. All this work begins about 9:30 A.M., seven days a week. Do they get along all the time? Jose admitted that at times it is tough to work together as a family, but since they live in separate places it makes it easier. You know that after work you can go home and chill out away from everyone else, just enough distance so that when you go back the next day you are excited to begin anew and again take on the daily challenge.

What about the food? Their regulars just love the Carne Asada and Bacon Wrap Shrimp. It is absolutely scrumptious. Another favorite is the Chili Verde. All food, like the chili rellenos, tortillas, corn tortillas, is made from scratch.

Jose and Miguel would like everyone to know that they have decided Mi Casita is going to begin having lunch specials, so be on the lookout for those. In the meantime for a delicious, delectable meal, and a refreshing margarita, stop by between the hours of 11 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. every day except Friday, open until 10:00 P.M.
