Last week, the Shadow Hills Riding Club, under the direction of Johnny Higginson, held a BBQ fundraiser for the Saddles for Soldiers (SFS) program developed to assist disabled U.S. Veterans. Using grass-fed meats donated by Harmony Farms, everybody had a great time.
This program, which is directed by Casey Gray is offered to all military personnel who live with emotional or physical disabilities and their families. SFS utilizes a holistic approach in order to reach its main longterm goal: the reduction of suicide for veterans. Short-term goals are:
• Reintegration into society
• Learning new skills
• Animal/human bond
• Emotional stability
• A safe, fun environment • Substance abuse recovery
• New experiences
In doing a service for those who served, the costs are FREE.
