It was a really quiet day last Wednesday, January 11 around noon when the calls started coming in to the Foothills Paper office that police and SWAT were driving up and down the streets from Lowell to Pali. With helicopters overhead and Glendale police blocking the streets, armed police officers and SWAT members in green outfits checked each residence.

A security system in a residence along the 3900 block of Santa Carlotta Street in La Crescenta alerted the residents. A subsequent 911 call reported a burglary in progress. With the police coming, the burglars ran across yards crossing Lowell into Tujunga. They then ran up Cabanas and Arminita.

Arriving officers received information from neighbors that they had seen three African-American males fleeing the area on foot. Glendale PD set up a perimeter to block exit by persons or vehicles from the area. Mutual assistance protocol was set in motion and officers from Burbank PD, LAPD, Glendale SWAT and San Fernando K-9 teams.

Two suspects were captured within an hour and a third suspect was later captured and taken into custody without incident. The third suspect had been hiding in a shed on Amanita and after the police had passed by, he made an escape attempt towards PetSmart
